To experience the market at its peak, tours usually depart from Can Tho hotels around 5:30 AM. You will see local vendors selling fruits, vegetables, and hot breakfast noodle soups directly from their boats.
Yes, very easy. Buddhism is widely practiced, so vegetarian food (called "Chay") is readily available everywhere. Look for signs saying "Quan Chay" or "Com Chay" for delicious, affordable plant-based meals. In Ho Chi Minh City, you will also find a huge range of high-end vegetarian and vegan restaurants serving creative local and international fusion dishes.
While credit cards are widely accepted in Ho Chi Minh City hotels, restaurants, and larger shops, they are rarely accepted by local vendors, market stalls, and boat operators in the rural Mekong Delta. We highly recommend carrying sufficient Vietnamese Dong cash (VND) in small denominations for purchases, drinks, and tips.
The Cu Chi Tunnels are located about 60 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City center. The drive takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours each way depending on traffic. A standard half-day tour takes about 5 to 6 hours in total, while full-day tours often combine Cu Chi Tunnels with a Mekong Delta boat excursion.
