Ben Dinh vs Ben Duoc — Which to Visit?
There are two tunnel sites open to visitors:
📍 Ben Dinh (closer to Ho Chi Minh City, ~40 km) — More tourist-oriented, smaller scale, but easier to reach. Most day tours go here.
📍 Ben Duoc (~70 km) — Larger, more authentic, and less crowded. Has a war memorial temple. Better for independent travelers wanting a deeper experience.

What to Expect on Your Visit
🎬 Documentary film — A 15-minute propaganda film from the 1960s gives historical context (unintentionally fascinating).
🕳️ Tunnel crawling — Sections of tunnel have been enlarged slightly for tourists. Still very tight — claustrophobics should skip. A 20m and 40m route are available.
🎯 AK-47 shooting range — You can fire live rounds from various war-era weapons for an additional fee (~35,000–50,000 VND per bullet). Optional.
🪤 Booby trap displays — Replica displays of the various traps used, clearly explained by guides.
Getting There from Ho Chi Minh City
🚌 Organized day tour — Most convenient. Pickup from your hotel, English-speaking guide, ~US$8–15/person. Available from most hotels and travel agencies in District 1.
🚗 Private car/Grab — ~1 hour drive. Grab car costs approximately 300,000–400,000 VND one way.
🚌 Public bus — Take bus 13 from Ben Thanh to Cu Chi terminal (~90 min), then a xe om (motorbike taxi) to the site.
Practical Tips
🌡️ Visit in the morning (07:30–10:00) — cooler temperature and fewer crowds.
👕 Wear dark or old clothing — the tunnels are narrow and sometimes muddy.
💧 Bring plenty of water — the site is outdoors and can be very hot.
